Our approach

Scryer Media builds self-hosted software on a simple principle: your data belongs to you. Our projects do not collect analytics, build user profiles, track your behavior, or sell your data. We collect as little operational information as possible and only when it is needed to provide or protect a service.

This policy applies to every Scryer Media project. The details for each product are below.

Scryer

Scryer’s product data stays on your instance. Scryer Media does not receive or save your settings, downloads, history, logs, or other product data.

There are two narrow exceptions needed to operate Scryer services:

  • Discovery: When you use Discovery, Scryer submits a snapshot of your library using an opaque job token so the service can generate results. The token does not identify or expose the originating Scryer instance, so the snapshot cannot be tied back to an individual instance. The snapshot is processed temporarily and is not saved.
  • Rate-limiting and usage estimates: Scryer Media stores a one-way hash of your IP address to prevent abuse and estimate the rough number of users. The original IP address is not stored, and the hash is not used to identify you, build a profile, or connect activity across products.

Weaver

Weaver is fully isolated. It does not send product data, telemetry, analytics, or usage information to Scryer Media. Your settings, downloads, history, logs, and activity remain on your Weaver instance.
