Quality Profiles
A quality profile decides which releases a title may have, how they are ranked, and when Scryer stops upgrading. Custom rules add to that ranking but never replace it. See Custom Rules for the rule layer.
Profiles live in Settings → Quality Profiles and require the manageCatalogSettings permission.
How A Profile Decides
Section titled “How A Profile Decides”Every candidate release goes through the same steps, in this order:
- Quality tier. A release whose quality is not in the profile is rejected. Among allowed releases, a higher tier always wins, regardless of score.
- Blocks. Filters on the profile, scoring overrides, and blocking rules can veto a release outright.
- Score. Within a tier, the persona, overrides, bundled release intelligence, and custom rules produce a score that ranks the survivors.
- Thresholds. The minimum score to grab and the cutoff decide whether the winner is worth downloading at all.
Tier is a comparison step, not points. A 720p release never outranks a 2160p one on score alone.
Quality Tiers And Archival Quality
Section titled “Quality Tiers And Archival Quality”Quality tiers is an ordered list of the resolutions the profile accepts. The available tiers are 8K (4320p), 4K (2160p), 1440p, 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 576p, 480p, and 360p. New profiles start with 2160p, 1080p, and 720p. Order is preference: the first tier is what Scryer wants most.
Archival quality is the tier to keep long term. Scryer may grab a higher tier first when nothing at the archival quality exists, then replace it when an archival-quality release appears.
Cutoff tier stops upgrades once a title has this tier or better. Titles below it appear in Cutoff Unmet. Leave it at No cutoff to keep upgrading through the whole list.
Upgrades allowed lets Scryer replace a managed file with a better match. Upgrades never go above the archival quality.
Unknown quality allowed admits releases whose quality the parser could not determine. It helps with unusual encodes at the cost of lower-confidence matches.
Filters
Section titled “Filters”Filters turn releases away before scoring.

| HDR allowed | Allow releases detected as HDR10, HLG, or Dolby Vision. Many release names omit HDR, so this is not a guarantee. |
| Dolby Vision | Allow Dolby Vision releases. Turn off for displays that cannot render DV. |
| Remux preferred | Bonus for remuxes. Mainly useful with the Audiophile persona. |
| Required Audio Languages | Languages a release must carry. Enforced when picking a release and again when validating the import. |
A codec allowlist also changes ranking. When a profile allowlists video or audio codecs, score for that codec comes from the allowlist order instead of the persona. A source allowlist only filters, and survivors keep their persona weight.
Scoring Persona
Section titled “Scoring Persona”A persona is a preset that sets roughly fifty scoring weights at once: how much Blu-ray beats WEB-DL, what each audio codec is worth, how Dolby Vision and HDR are treated, whether remuxes earn a bonus, how file size is rewarded or punished, and what a well-regarded release group counts for. Personas decide between releases of the same tier.

| Audiophile | Audio matters most. Rewards TrueHD Atmos, DTS:X, and lossless tracks, prefers remuxes, tolerates large files. |
| Efficient | Storage or bandwidth is the constraint. The only persona that penalizes very large files and favors x265. |
| Compatible | Playback reliability beats maximum quality. Prefers WEB-DL and common audio, and is the only persona that penalizes Dolby Vision. |
The persona is stored on the profile. Each facet can override it: open the facet’s settings, find Scoring behavior, and set Persona override or leave it at Use profile default. Resolution is facet override first, then the profile’s persona.
Switching persona re-scores future decisions immediately. Existing files move only when something better appears and clears the upgrade settings. The weight tables behind each persona are in TRaSH Guides And Scoring Personas.
Scoring Overrides
Section titled “Scoring Overrides”Overrides sit under Scoring overrides on the profile. Each is Yes, No, or Default, where Default means whatever the persona already does.
- Prefer lossless audio raises TrueHD, DTS:X, DTS-HD MA, and FLAC to Audiophile levels. On by default only for Audiophile.
- Prefer compact encodes swaps in Efficient’s size curve. On by default only for Efficient.
- Block AI upscaled rejects releases flagged as AI upscaled. On by default everywhere.
- Block DV without fallback rejects Dolby Vision releases with no HDR10 layer, which show green and purple on non-DV displays. Off by default.
- Allow x265 at non-4K stops penalizing x265 below 4K. Some devices struggle with it at lower resolutions.
Setting an override to No returns to Balanced’s value for that behavior, not your persona’s. Use Default to get the persona’s own setting back.
Minimum Score To Grab
Section titled “Minimum Score To Grab”Minimum score to grab is an absolute floor. A release scoring below it is vetoed with the code score_below_minimum and never downloaded, even if it is the only candidate. Leave it empty for no minimum.
This is a grab-time veto, not an import gate. It has no effect on files that already exist.
Assigning Profiles
Section titled “Assigning Profiles”Profiles apply at three levels, most specific first:
- Title. A title can carry its own profile.
- Category. Each content category can override the default under Category quality profile overrides. Choose Inherit from global to fall back.
- Global. Default quality profile (global) is used when nothing more specific applies.
A profile in use cannot be deleted. Remove it from all titles and category defaults first.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- Titles pile up in Cutoff Unmet. The assigned profile’s cutoff tier is above what indexers offer. Lower the cutoff or accept the backlog.
- Nothing is grabbed for a title. Check the scoring log in interactive search. A block code names the filter or rule responsible, and
score_below_minimumpoints at the minimum score. - Scryer downloaded 2160p when 1080p was wanted. The tiers list allows 2160p ahead of 1080p. Reorder or remove it, or set the archival quality to 1080p.
- A codec you allowlisted still loses. Allowlist order is the ranking. Move the preferred codec to the top.
