General

Use Movie General settings to tune behavior that applies broadly across the Movies facet, including the defaults new movie titles start with.

  • To access: Movies → Settings → General
  • To view: Requires manageCatalogSettings app permission
  • Also visible to: Also accept manageSystemSettings

If newly added movies are being created with the wrong default monitoring or metadata settings, review the facet-level defaults here before editing individual titles — a single change here fixes every new title going forward.

If behavior changed across all movies after an upgrade, check here for new options that may have defaulted to unexpected values before adjusting individual titles.

  • Review default behavior for newly added movie titles.
  • Configure sidecar or metadata-adjacent behaviors, when the UI exposes them, to match what your media server expects.

  • Set the defaults you want before adding a large group of movie titles.
  • Re-check this page after upgrading if the release introduces new broad movie defaults.

  • Movie Library — the catalog overview where the effect of general settings can be observed
  • Movie Library Settings — root and scan configuration for the Movies facet
