Renaming

Use Movie Renaming settings to control how Scryer formats managed movie paths when it imports or renames files.

  • To access: Movies → Settings → Renaming
  • To view: Requires manageCatalogSettings app permission
  • Also visible to: Also accept manageSystemSettings

If imported movie files are named wrong or landing in unexpected folders, review the templates here before re-running import work — placing files before fixing templates means renaming everything again.

If your media server can’t find Scryer-managed movies, confirm the folder and file path shape here matches what your media server expects before looking at the media server’s library config.

  • Edit naming templates for movie files and folders.
  • Preview how templates affect managed paths when the UI supports previews.
  • Review how naming policy interacts with your configured library roots.
  • Configure behavior for naming collisions.
  • Update templates before importing a new group of movie files.
  • Use a conservative collision policy when multiple tools can see the same root.
  • Confirm downstream tools are happy with the new folder and file shape before broad rename work.
