Global Search
Find or add any title from the Scryer header — Global Search is the app-wide search field. It searches existing catalog titles and uncataloged metadata matches from one place, then lets you open a title overview or start the add-to-catalog flow.
How To Reach It
Section titled “How To Reach It”- Click the search field in the main header.
- Press
/from a non-editable part of the app to focus the search field. - On mobile, activating search opens a full-screen search overlay.
Who Can See It
Section titled “Who Can See It”Global Search is part of the signed-in app shell. Catalog results reflect the titles your account can currently view, and add-to-catalog choices are limited to the libraries, roots, and reusable settings available to your account.
How Results Work
Section titled “How Results Work”- Type two or more characters to open live search results.
- Scryer searches the current catalog and metadata results in parallel.
- The catalog section lists existing titles across your visible facets.
- The metadata section groups uncataloged matches by Movies, Series, and Anime.
- Scryer filters matches that are already in the catalog out of the addable results.
- Press
Enterto run the current query explicitly.
On desktop, the result panel opens under the header field. On mobile, the overlay shows the same search flow in a touch-first layout.
Adding Content To The Catalog
Section titled “Adding Content To The Catalog”When a metadata result isn’t already cataloged, use the add action beside that result to open the add-to-catalog dialog.
The dialog can include:
- Library when your account can choose between multiple manageable libraries.
- Quality Profile from the reusable catalog profiles currently available in Scryer.
- Root Folder from the roots associated with the selected library.
- Season Folder for Series and Anime.
- Monitoring as a simple monitored toggle for Movies, or monitor-type choices for Series and Anime.
Some behavior is inherited automatically instead of chosen in the dialog. For example, default quality-profile selection comes from the current shared or facet-specific profile settings, and anime additions inherit anime-specific defaults that already exist in the Anime settings.
After a successful add, Scryer opens the new title overview so you can confirm the result in the catalog immediately.
Typical Workflows
Section titled “Typical Workflows”- Search for an existing title, open it, and continue from the title overview.
- Search for a title that is not yet in the catalog, review the metadata candidates, then add the correct one with the right library and profile.
- Use year, facet grouping, and surfaced artwork to separate similarly named matches before adding.
- Add a title first, then move into the facet-specific overview or settings pages if you need broader policy changes afterward.
Global Search Vs Command Palette
Section titled “Global Search Vs Command Palette”Use Global Search when you want to find or add a title.
Use the command palette when you want to jump to a screen, a settings page, an operational view, or an existing title through a keyboard-first route picker. The command palette can open existing titles, but it doesn’t provide the metadata-based add-to-catalog workflow.
